DISCIPLES OF POWER: BAND INFORMATION

DISCIPLES OF POWER: BAND INFORMATION

Quote:
Founded in Medicine Hat, Alberta in 1985, from the ashes of WARTHORN, DISCIPLES OF POWER are one of Canada’s longest running Metal acts. The driving force behind the band has always been founder, Hart Bachmier who relocated the band to Edmonton in 1987. After a quick demo called 'Kutulu' in 1987 and another called 'Power Of Death', they appeared on a local, vinyl compilation called 'Writing In Stone' in 1988. DISCIPLES OF POWER were early enough on the Metal scene to score a reasonably secure deal with Fringe Records and they relocated to Ottawa.

In 1989 they released their debut album 'Power Trap' and toured Canada. The band relocated again to briefly to Vancouver where they produced a video for the track 'Crisis'. Yet another relocation and line-up change found the band back in Edmonton where they and recorded their second Fringe album, 'Ominous Prophecy'. More touring followed and the over the next few years the band received critical acclaim for their Death-Thrash style. The band filmed a video for the track 'Nature’s Fury' and hosted the 'Power Hour', Much Music’s metal video specialty show.

After two releases on Fringe, the band decided to go the independent route releasing another album entitled 'Invincible Enemy' on their own Mindt Gash label. Another video followed for the track 'Before The End' and more touring followed. 1993 was a busy year for the band as DISCIPLES OF POWER released total re-working of the debut 'Power Trap' also on Mindt Gash. Another video was shot in Edmonton this time for the title track of the re-issue subtitled, “The Brutal Re-mix”.

In 1995 the band release their 4th full-length 'Mechanikill'. This album was not as well received and the band toured Western Canada very sporadically for the next several years while the band members pursue other projects. Despite many line-up changes the band has a solid reputation, not only for their intense, technical Death Metal but also for their professional image and attitude enhanced by steady touring, videos and the excellent artwork. Steve Chandler provided the art for the first two releases and the following three were done by Shane Hawco of THORAZINE.

In 2000 the band decided to regroup and begins writing and touring a little more extensively including headlining the inaugural show of the Okanagan Metal Fest in Oliver, BC. in the summer of 2001. A further album, 'In Dust We Trust', is projected for release also on the Mindt Gash label.
