| What is Windows XP Ultimate Edition?
Windows XP Ultimate Edition is a custom Windows XP Professional Edition that includes several software integrated as components that in my point of view should of have always been part of windows.
This is not an official release from Microsoft.
Why is the ISO 4GB?
There are a couple of things that make the ISO that big.
Here are the most relevant:
* Dreamscene Wallpapers: about 1GB
* Nero: about 660MB
* Windows Dancers: about 550MB
* Frameworks: about 280MB
Can I upgrade from previous release?
No. Please make a clean install.
Windows XP Ultimate is complex and it uses several diferent installers for the diferent components and upgrading will most likely mess any part of the install process or even hang up the whole setup.
It's just not possible to make an upgrade due to all of the install processes merged in the whole setup!
Windows XP Ultimate DreamScenes and Internet Explorer 8?
XP Ultimate Dreamscenes are based on IE's Active Desktop technology.
With IE8, microsoft marks the abandoning of Active Desktop in detriment of web slices.
This will cause the following dreamscene issues to XP Ultimate users running IE8:
* First Dreamscene will load fine. Following dreamscenes won't load.
Workaround: Load the desired dreamscene and then log off and on again. Upon login on again the previously loaded new dreamscene will show up.
* With IE8, XP Ultimate Dreamscenes will use more CPU than usually with IE7.
First make sure you have a backup of your documents, pictures, videos.... and the XP drivers for your hardware.
Windows XP Ultimate only has the standard XP SP3 drivers included plus the Sata/Raid driver pack.

-----------

Since XP Ultimate does not natively support IE8 due to the problems it causes to some XP Ultimate components/applications, I decided to include Firefox pre-configured as the default browser.
Firefox is one of the most used browsers at the moment and it's been getting better, so it will fill what has been somewhat a lacking area(A Quality Browser) in XP Ultimate for the last few releases.
Several updates are also included in this release as usual.
A CLEAN INSTALL IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED TO TAKE ADVANTADGE OF ALL FEATURES AND CONFIGURATIONS.
It is also recommended to Disconnect any external USB MassStorage devices (HDDs, Flash Drives, ...) before starting the install process and connect only after complete installation.
