Only for call of duty : world at war
Nick's advice
Activision released Call of Duty 5: World at War recently, and like most games, has been plagued with problems, ranging from crashes or campaigns (that doesn't start when u click the difficulty) wich can be solved by disabling modem devices (how nice  ) to problems with multiple sound cards or sample rates.
The problem I have encountered is the fact that after the game is installed, for some reason the game is not able to create a default profile, nor does it prompt you for one. The solution was pretty simple, but it required unhiding hidden files, deleting and editing files. For some users, this can be scary, so I created a program to do all of this for you.
installation instructions :
Unrar with winrar or winzip
double click the NKCSS CoD 5 WaW Profile Fix.exe setup file
The tool is pretty easy; fill in a user name and press the 'Create Profile and Fix My Problem!' button. Once you do so, the application will prompt you to check if you are sure (on a normal working game install, this program will delete your profiles and saved games, so don't 'play' with it if you have a well working game experience).
After the fix has been applied, you are asked if you want to run the game right away.
Once in-game, you will notice that where it used to say just 'Offline:', it will now show your username. One this I might want to add is that you cannot enter spaces in your profile name. The program will allow you to enter anything you want, but the game won't accept it, so keep it a single name without spaces or weird characters.
I have tested this on Vista, but it should work on Windows XP aswel.
