It doesn't matter how fast your connection is, if you download big popular files like game demos, Linux installs, or videos, you can still have problems with disconnections or slow servers. GetRight's resuming and acceleration will make your downloads painless and easy--and as fast as possible.
As this picture shows, even at a good speed, a download can still take hours.
This picture shows how you can see the progress as GetRight downloads different parts of the file at the same time. The colored bars show how different parts of the file are downloading at once--a faster server would fill its block, then jump to help fill another part of the file.
Save Broken Internet Connections with GetRight
This is the original feature that inspired GetRight to be programmed in 1997.
It is as valuable today as it was when GetRight was first written over ten years ago!
Even though many people now have high speed internet connections, the downloadable files have also grown in size comparable to these connection speeds. In 1997, when most people connected to the internet with modems, a big download would have been 4 or 5 megabytes (anything over 10 megabytes was considered HUGE). Today, those files could be downloaded very quickly with a cable or DSL connection, but many downloads today are several hundred megabytes, and gigabyte-sized downloads are not uncommon. (This was written in 2007, if you are reading this a year or two in the future, gigabyte-sized downloads may be quite normal and multi-gigabyte downloads may also be common!)
There are many causes of broken internet connections:
The modem hangs up or the phone line is needed for something else. (This was the BIG reason back in 1997 and still common.)
The wireless connection drops. (The modern equivalent of a modem hanging up.)
The computer crashes.
The laptop battery runs out.
The power goes off.
Someone bumps into a wire or cord.
You just want to do something else now and finish downloading later!
GetRight can solve these problems!
Downloads can be picked up and resumed right where they were stopped--whether that stop was intentional or not.
An example of GetRight saving a broken connection
Hi. This is Peter writing; I designed this website and my brother, Michael, is the main programmer of GetRight.
Here is a test I did to show off GetRight's capabilities.
To the right is a screen shot of GetRight downloading its own installer.
During this particular download, I continuously pressed the pause and resume button, stacking up 40 disconnections and re-connections.
When I resumed the 41st time, I let the download start going, and then unplugged the computer's network cable!
On the 42nd resume (just after this screen shot was taken) I let the download finish.
Everything worked perfectly when I ran the installer.
When disconnections like this happen for real, GetRight can save you a lot of time and frustration!
Want to get many files from a website?
If you want to collect images, music, or other files from a website, GetRight will be a lifesaver. It has several tools to easily scan a whole website to extract and download just the files you want!

Server Synchronization with GetRight
GetRight's server synchronization features are powerful tools for gathering and downloading many files from a web site or FTP server. This functionality has many uses, including:
Downloading entire collections of music, images, or video from a website.
Downloading large installers consisting of many files (such as Linux).
Keeping business documents on your laptop current in preparation for business travel when access will be limited.
Downloading entire websites for offline viewing.
Downloading entire contents of FTP servers.
Downloading entire contents of FTP servers.
GetRight Pro: Updating your website.
The uses of this technology vary so much, that GetRight has provided several tools depending on your specific needs.
Server Synchronizer
This tool lets you build and save a search which can later be repeated when files are added or updated.
You can download entire web sites, or use filters based on file name, type, or directory to only get the particular files you want.
Additionally, various checks can be put in place to only get new files, or to look for updates in current files, etc.
GetRight Pro: includes uploading for FTP servers (if available). This feature can then be used to update your own web site.
QuickSync
A "One off" search tool that is designed for files that you want to download now, but probably won't need to come back and download again.
QuickSync, as the name implies, lets you quickly scan a website or FTP server for files.
GetRight Pro: uploading is not available through QuickSync.
GetRight Browser
Similar to FTP clients, this lets you navigate a server and see what files are available. What differentiates this from FTP clients is the ability to view HTTP servers. When viewing web sites, GetRight will parse the web pages to find links to files and other pages. This allows you to navigate the links on pages as though they were directories and files.
GetRight Pro: uploading is available for FTP servers.
Ever lose a download?
If you've ever downloaded a file, then been unable to find it on your computer, GetRight will save you lots of time. Run files when they finish with just a click! When a download finishes, GetRight will show a window like the one here. You can simply click as it says to open the file.
And GetRight's history will help you find your files too. A list will show all your recently completed downloads. You can use the built-in filters to see downloads finished today, yesterday, the past week, etc. Or choose one of the file type filters if you know you're looking for a program, video, etc!
Have a fast connection (DSL/cable/etc)?
Even Better! You may have fewer broken downloads, but all the other features will be even more useful for you. GetRight's acceleration features can make a big improvement in your download speeds--GetRight can split up a file and download several pieces at the same time, which can really help get the most speed out of your fast connection.
And when you do have any disconnections (which always seem to wait until you're downloading that BIG file) GetRight will be there and ready to resume when you need it!
That fast connection can let you download lots of files, so you're even more likely to lose something; GetRight will help you find it.
Faster Downloads
GetRight® Tips to get the Fastest Downloads:
There are several features in GetRight to help you get the fastest downloads possible.
Mirrors
Mirrors are other server computers on the Internet with the same file as the one you want. One server might be in the same city as you while another is on the other side of the Earth. The one near you is usually faster than the one 1000s of miles away! By doing some automatic speed-checking and switching servers if needed, GetRight can help you get a much faster download speed.
Acceleration
Acceleration lets GetRight download different parts of the same file at the same time. Some pieces may come from one server, while other pieces could come from somewhere else. GetRight puts all the pieces together into a complete file, no matter where it downloaded each part. If each of the servers is limiting the speed at which you can download (and many do), this can make a big improvement! Finding Mirrors
Having more Mirrors for downloading a file can improve your speeds. GetRight will automatically check the responses from all your mirrors to pick the best place to download.
Adding Mirrors Manually.
If the web page where you find a file to download lists several places to download, if you just click several--or all--GetRight will automatically add them as mirrors for one download.
Finding Mirrors
Having more Mirrors for downloading a file can improve your speeds. GetRight will automatically check the responses from all your mirrors to pick the best place to download.

If the web page where you find a file to download lists several places to download, if you just click several--or all--GetRight will automatically add them as mirrors for one download.
Searching, use the "Downloads--Mirror Search" configuration page in GetRight. When you choose to use this service, you can of course decide whether or not to share URLs.
Searching for Mirrors.
Another easy way to find mirrors is to turn on GetRight's FindFiles.com searching.
When a web page lists several places to download, different people will click on different locations for the same file. With the FindFiles.com service enabled, GetRight shares and can find these different URLs to add mirrors for your downloads.
To enable the FindFiles.com searching, use the "Downloads--Mirror Search" configuration page in GetRight. When you choose to use this service, you can of course decide whether or not to share URLs.
Checking For the Fastest Mirror
A server close to you is likely to be faster than one on the other side of the Earth. GetRight will periodically "Ping" each of the mirror servers for the file to see which is likely to be the fastest, and then will automatically switch to download from the fastest.
It will do it automatically, but you can also tell GetRight to recalculate the fastest yourself. Press the Options button (see picture below) when a file is downloading, and pick the "Recalculate Speeds" item in the menu. Note that the menu item will not be shown if there is only one server--you may want to pick the "Search for Alternates" menu in this case!
Accelerating Downloads
Accelerating a file allows GetRight to download different parts of the same file at the same time. For example, GetRight would start at the beginning of the file from server A, and at the middle of the file from server B. Each half of the completed file would come from a different server!
Depending on your Internet connection, this can dramatically improve the download speed. GetRight allows up to ten Segments, so with the right conditions, downloads can be up to ten times as fast as regular downloading!
The results of Accelerated downloading will vary depending on your Internet connection, and a variety of other factors. But if you are not reaching the maximum possible download speed for your Internet connection, this acceleration can really help a lot.
To tell GetRight to use Acceleration when downloading a file, press the Options button when a file is downloading, and pick the "Accelerate Downloading" item in the menu, then the number of Segments to use!
It does limit to four connections for each server, so to get to the maximum of 10, you will need some Mirrors too.
You can even set GetRight to Accelerate automatically. On the configuration window shown above, the "Downloads--Accelerate" page has several choices to speed up your downloads!
Features for Everybody.
GetRight has many more features.
GetRight can download not only from web and ftp servers, but also BitTorrent™ downloads.
It integrates with your web browser, so using GetRight is as easy as clicking. You don't have to do anything special for it to do your downloads. Works with Internet Explorer, Firefox, Opera, Mozilla, Netscape, AOL, and MSN.
Huge files are no problem--download DVD-sized files (many Gigabytes).
Build a big list of everything to download, and set the order for downloading to just what you want so the important files come first.
Set it to turn off the computer when it is done getting the files so you can just leave it alone to do the work.
GetRight's History will let you easily find files you've downloaded.
You can schedule a time when GetRight should start downloading to get your files...so it can do all the work in the middle of the night while you sleep.
GetRight includes several ways to scan a website to quickly grab batches of files.
If you listen to Podcasts, GetRight can automatically download them for you, even adding the files into a playlist in iTunes or Windows Media Player.
If you need to get the same files every day (like web log files) GetRight's Daily Downloads let you schedule files to be downloaded every day.

I've tested several kind of Patches and Cracks. They just work about 10 days and then they sucks...!
It seems Getright developers are more expert then others
