The Seduction - Betrayed (200
Propelled forward by the noise of great bands of the past and present, The Seduction started making noise in 2007.
There is no rank of order, just good old fashioned noisy rock and roll.
There is more to be done. A full length CD/LP out in May on Melbourne's Trial and Error Records, A lot of driving, a shitload of sweat, the occasional injury and a long run of shows.
Brace you're ears, this is gonna be a fun ride.

Reviews
For those of you that caught my review of The Seduction’s Melbourne demo, you’ll probably remember that I wasn’t exactly kind when it came to my description of the four-track release. Well times have certainly changed because The Seduction’s debut full length Betrayed showcases eleven tracks of solid and enjoyable song writing.
My biggest gripe with The Seduction’s earlier work was its lack of cohesion, however the maturation of the band’s arrangements and playing has resulted in a more focused collection of songs, one that should see The Seduction climb further up the ranks of the Australian hardcore food chain.
The opening blast of “Parasite VS Host” shows that discordant guitar work doesn’t need erratic time signatures to work, as the straight forward drum tempos give the song a real kick that might not be as powerful if the listener was pre-occupied with trying to understand what the fuck was going on, as opposed to just enjoying the tune.
While the Norma Jean influence is undeniable “The Devil’s Children…” is still an impressive song with its rock n roll swagger and sleazy breakdown, while “Corpus Christi” takes a more mosh friendly route. The one thing that stands out at this stage of the record is Craigos’ vocal performance. My disappointment with The Seduction’s demo was the reliance on deep growls, however Betrayed shows a healthy vocal diversity, which gives the songs more of a natural feel.
The title track’s furious punk assault carries on through “Drowned”, another up tempo tune which is no doubt going to cause some serious damage in the live setting, while the droning, almost entirely instrumental “Nice To Know You” slows things right down. “Dead End” sees The Seduction return to their up-beat best and “The Kids No One Wanted” delivers a positive message courtesy of Craig’s penmanship, while “Bleakest Streets” is a short, sharp kick to the balls. To finish things off we’ve got the dense “The Lone Wolf” and the soulful “Death Of A Cowboy”, the latter being a genuine slice of the blues.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Melbourne-based noise/metal/hardcore act The Seduction have only been around on the scene for the last couple of years, and to date have only released a four-track EP (2007's Melbourne Demo).
But if you dig a little deeper into their history, it soon becomes apparent that the four members that make up the band are anything but newcomers, with The Seduction made up of former members of well known acts such as In Name And Blood (vocalist Craig Wainwright) and The Jonestown Syndicate (bassist/vocalist Joey Jones), along with musicians that have been playing in the Melbourne hardcore scene for some time (guitarist Shane Sterry and drummer Daniel Nanthathammiko). So with a wealth of experience behind them, I was expecting big things from The Seduction on their debut full-length effort Betrayed, and I'm glad to say they have well and truly delivered.
Unlike their previous outfits, The Seduction draw their influences more from the likes of Norma Jean, Every Time I Die and He Is Legend (who also inspired the band's name). The album's opening track "Parasite VS. Host" demonstrates the band's ability to deliver complete havoc in the song writing sense, all the while maintaining a sense of melody throughout. A destructive rock and roll vibe is evident in the catchy "The Devil's Children Have The Devil's Work," "Dead End" and the fantastic "The Kids That No One Wanted," with the riffs providing the majority of the hooks.
Meanwhile, on tracks such as "Corpus Christi," the title track "Betrayed" and "The Bleakest Streets," the group turn up the intensity; all the mentioned songs wreaking havoc with their constant time changes and blunt impact.
The best tracks, however, are the ones where the band (and Wainwright in particular) stretch out a little more and lend a somewhat sombre/progressive edge to their sound, as evident in "Drowned," "The Lone Wolf" and the closing instrumental "Death Of A Cowboy."
Melbourne Demo was pretty much an ordinary effort that failed to live up to expectations. But in the short space of 12 months The Seduction have returned with Betrayed, and totally reinvented themselves as an act worthy of the praise that will undoubtedly be bestowed upon them by newcomers to their latest effort.
