Overdose – 3 Album Pack
VBR

Overdose started life in the small Brazillian town of Belo Horizonte along with Sepultura. While most people know that both bands started together with the Bestial Devastation/ Seculo XX split in 1985, Sepultura went on to conquer the world while Overdose languished in relative obscurity in their country. This didn't stop them from putting out some high quality metal though and this pack has the 3 albums from the band between 1992 - 1995 that actually saw distribution outside of Brazil.

Here's the band info from BNR Metal pages....

Overdose was one of Brazil's oldest metal bands, having been formed in Belo Horizonte in the early 80's by Baza and Claudio David. By 1985 a stable lineup had materialized and the band, ready to record, attracted the interest of the brand new Cogumelo record label. As they didn't yet have enough material for a full-length album, it was decided that they'd release a split LP with another band, and that band happened to be another young Brazilian band by the name of Sepultura. The resulting Seculo XX/Bestial Devastation LP thus linked the two bands forever after, and of course was and is an important release in Brazilian metal history. While Sepultura conquered the world metal scene several years later, Overdose has done reasonably well in their home country but not as well outside of it, as much of their material was only released in Brazil. One album that did get an international release is 1992's Circus Of Death (the only album reviewed here). The style here is thrash, less the deathy style of Sepultura at the time, but a more midpaced power thrash, with Baza's hoarse vocals verging on hardcore.

After the release of their last album (Scars, in 1995) the band carried on amidst some lineup changes, (including, ironically, the addition of founding Sepultura guitarist Jairo Guedz), but they disbanded in 1997

Overdose - Circus of Death
Label - Pavement
Year of Release - 1992

Track list
1. The Zombie Factory
2. Children Of War
3. Dead Clowns
4. Profit
5. The Healer
6. Violence
7. A Good Day To Die
8. Powerwish
9. Beyond My Bad Dreams

This version is the Pavement re-issue that came out in 1999. A different track list along with different artwork from the original release on Cogumelo Records.
Circus of Death sees the band playing straight ahead groovy thrash metal and guitarist Claudio David was always one for kickass grooves so expect lots of fist pumping head banging material on this one.

Overdose – Progress of Decadence
Label – Futurist
Year of Release – 1993

1. Rio Samba e Porrada no Morro
2. Street Law
3. Straight to the Point
4. Progress of Decadence
5. Capitalist Way
6. Deep in Your Mind
7. Noise From Brazil
8. Aluquisarrerá
9. Favela
10. No Truce
11. Faithful Death
12. Stupid Generation
13. Zombie Factory

Progress of Decadence was a huge leap for the band. Incorporating Brazilian percussion into their groove thrash style, the songs on Progress kick ass and compares quite favourably to Sepultura’s Chaos AD while not sounding even remotely like the Seps.

Overdose – Scars
Label – Fierce Records
Year of Release – 1995

1. The Front
2. My Rage
3. Manipulated Reality
4. How To Pray
5. Scars
6. Still Primitive
7. Just Another
8. School
9. Last Words
10. Postcard From Hell
11. Who's Words
12. Out Of Control - A Fairy Tale
13. Nu Dus Outro É Refresco

Scars, the groups final album is a tour de force in thrash metal songwriting. Again, incorporating lots of ethnic sounds into their thrash metal sound and coming off as completely unique, Scars is Overdose’s most impressive album. Claudio David is still writing big fat kickass grooves and Baza’s vocal talents are a lot more versatile on this album. Simply kickass and one of the most underappreciated and overlooked metal albums of all time.

Hope you like it and please seed atleast for a while....
