"ANIMALS AS LEADERS is a guitar-driven, progressive instrumental project with
ambient and electronic influences," Abasi explains. "I definitely wanted to
make an album that was 'guitar-centric,' but also interesting from other perspectives.
"'Tempting Time' loosely deals with some of the time-based societal pressures that come with getting older," he continues. "It's about reconciling your place in your life with where society feels like you should be, and understanding the finite amount of time you have in life to do anything."

The Washington, D.C.-based progressive instrumental group ANIMALS AS
LEADERS, which features the seven- and eight-string guitar wizardy of former
REFLUX guitarist Tosin Abasi, has revealed the cover art of its self-titled debut, due on April 28,2009 via Prosthetic Records.

The song "Tempting Time" is currently streaming on the band's MySpace page.
ANIMALS AS LEADERS will perform at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival on April 18. Additional tour dates will follow.

"A few years ago, we were at the New England Metal and Hardcore Festival and
we were waiting for some main stage act to play that I wasn't exactly super
excited to see. All of the sudden a band came on who was definitely not the
band we were expected and shredded their way into our hearts. That band was the now defunct Washington DC act REFLUX. They simply destroyed the stage.
After then, I was dying to see this band come back on a tour but it never
seemed to happen and the band fizzled away. Then, I got a press release in my
inbox with some super exciting news: the (eight-string) gutiarist of that
band, Tosin Abasi has started a new project called ANIMALS AS LEADERS. I urge you to check out the track that has been posted on the official band Myspace page immediately!"
