Frank D.: My first thought when I read "One Man Army And The Undead Quartet" on the cover is "Hmm". I'm somewhat doubtful whether to be happy or sad that this assignment ended up on my desk. The debut '21st Century Killing Machine' by the band of ex-The Crown front man Johan Lindstrand didn't get me nowhere near the edge of my seat and is gathering dust in my record collection ever since I put it on the shelve. And here I find the follow-up waiting for me. So, with a feeling of "wonder-what-this-is-going-to-bring-me" I put 'Error In Evolution' in the player.
Last time around I accused Johan and his buddies of taking the safe road. Well, no such thing on this new album. I knew they could do it! The Entombed influenced riffs are flung at the beholder with a blistering vengeance and backed by a top notch rhythm section. All this sets the perfect stage on which Johan can proclaim his message. The album opens convincing with 'Mine For The Taking' and keeps convincing me during the whole course of the CD. This is the kind of music which gives me extra energy while working out. Yes, this is testosterone injected roaring and steaming death metal. If the debut was totally your thing, this new album will blow you away and, in the process, hopefully you finally get my point about that debut. This is what I missed: some balls and raw energy. Compliments, gents, this is some fine craftsmanship! Highlights are 'Such A Sick Boy', 'The Supreme Butcher' and the steamrolling 'Hail The King'.
Knitting things up: this is what the doctor ordered. If they can keep this level of intensity up, this band could well be off to become one of the top players of the genre. So, this album is certainly no error in evolution if you ask me.
