Quote:
Direct whilst elusive, sumptuous and austere, precise yet expansive. David Wenngren's Library Tapes is an amalgam of beautifully juxtoposed expressions and deftly described phrases. Found sounds and field recordings crackle and smolder as Danny Norbury's cello teases out a foundation for fragile piano melodies. While those passages so gentle and elegant form the spine of David's sound, its the sense of patience - of compositional balance which lifts his work to the stratosphere. These are 11 windows to a world of timeless suspension, of grace and of glorious decay. Antony Harrison (Konntinent) Home Normal will be kicking off with the ever wonderful Library Tapes at the end of February. 'Sketches' was originally released in very limited numbers by David Wenngren himself at Make Mine Music in 2007 as a 'tour' CD. On 'Sketches' we hear David team up with cellist Danny Norbury (Static Caravan, Ono), whose work we will also be releasing later in the year under his and David's Le Lendemain guise. We decided to repackage and re-release this beautiful work with Jeremy Bible taking over photography, design and mastering duties.

Quote:
When listening to Library Tapes' "Höstluft" I was thoroughly entranced and my mind wondered to old memories of place and reflection ... looking through dusty photo albums, riding in train cars, early morning drives, laying down in the back of a car as a child.
The mechanical clicks and rhythmic hums of lo-fi field recordings mixed with the reverb bright piano have an interesting and pacifying effect that puts the audience in two different locations.
In the first, the listener can imagine being in the room beside the piano player, looking over his shoulder from behind the bench and eavesdropping into his interplay with thought and instrument. In this place, it is as if the memories and thoughts of the musician are directly connected to the strings of the piano.
Simultaneously, the listener is moved to the second place, transported to an old train car where the piano melodies soundtrack the sights outside the window.
This album is truly beautiful and absorbing, and presents an interesting interaction of melody and memory.

Quote:
Library Tapes follow up the highly acclaimed Make Mine Music album H"stluft with the beautiful and atmospheric long player A Summer Beneath the Trees. A Summer Beneath the Trees steps away from the minimal sound of previous Library Tapes releases, with rich layers of sound and more varied instrumentation, and strings taking a more prominent role. Joining Library Tapes main man David Wenngren (piano, laptop and field recordings) are Peter Broderick (Bella Union, Type, Kning Disk) who adds violin, guitar, accordion, trumpet, celeste, viola and banjo on the six of the album's nine tracks, and Danny Norbury (Static Caravan, Ono) who plays cello on three tracks.
