About VLC media player
VLC media player is a highly portable multimedia player for various audio and video formats (MPEG-1, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, DivX, mp3, ogg, ...) as well as DVDs, VCDs, and various streaming protocols.
It can also be used as a server to stream in unicast or multicast in IPv4 or IPv6 on a high-bandwidth network.
It doesn't need any external codec or program to work.

VLC 1.0.0 hits 3 million downloads

After less than 3 days, the 1.0.0 release of VLC has hit more than 3 million downloads on the download counter. We would like to thank the people who have downloaded it and especially, people who have donated to our cause.

The VideoLAN project is pleased to announce the release of the first version of the Goldeneye branch of VLC: 1.0.0.
This major release introduces many new features, new formats and new codecs to the VLC multimedia framework and fixes a very high number of bugs that were present in the 0.9.x or 0.8.6 versions.
You can download it now.
The VLC project only lives with volunteers and would love help from new users and contributors: time, code, hardware and money would help us a lot. You don't need to be a developer to help.
VideoLAN at LinuxTAG

Once again, The VideoLAN Team got a booth at LinuxTAG (June 24 to June 27) in Berlin, Germany. Come around and meet us in hall 7.2a at booth 105. Have a look at the latest and greatest features and see the people behind the cone.
VLC 1.0.0 approaches!

Thanks to the continuous efforts made by the developers and the community, the new version of the award-winning VLC media player, numbered 1.0.0, is approaching the end of development.
The release will very likely happen next week.
We would like to thank all the people involved with it.

At the same time, the VideoLAN project is glad to announce that the fourth release candidate (and hopefully last!) of the Goldeneye version of VLC, numbered 1.0.0-rc4 is out.
Source tarballs are ready, but binaries should follow very soon on our main website. |

the only reason that we put freeware here is for people to find it easily... now suppose u r just browsing h33t... you see vlc player! you say wow! lets download... may be you wont have done it otherwise.
second, h33t is a family, we promote it by getting stuff from everywhere here. i wont get a penny for putting this up on the net..
third please visi the forum and check the posts on freware
