Quote:
Eternal Lord is a British experimental deathcore/death metal band that formed in 2005.

In 2006, the band released a their self-titled EP through Thirty Days of Night Records, followed shortly by a split EP with Glasgow group Azriel.
Shortly after the release of the split, vocalist Sam Ricketts decided to quit the band to pursue his dream of becoming a tattoo artist.
A search for a replacement vocalist began and the band recruited Ivan Ferreira of The Hurt Process.
Ferreira was unable to join the group permanently due to other commitments, and was soon replaced by former The Hunt for Ida Wave and I Killed The Prom Queen vocalist Edward Butcher.

Their debut album Blessed Be This Nightmare was released throughout the UK and Europe on the 17th of March 2008 via Golf Records and on the 18th March 2008 in the US via Ferret Music.

In late May 2008 it was announced that drummer Stuart Mackay had abruptly quit the band just prior to their embarking on a US tour with The Acacia Strain, All Shall Perish and Since The Flood. In July 2008, Eddy Thrower was announced as the band's new drummer.

While the group's early material was more death metal oriented, Blessed be This Nightmare incorporates elements of thrash metal, progressive metal, death metal and metalcore. They are labelled as metalcore on their website but are considered by fans as deathcore.

There’s one word to sum up Eternal Lord’s latest album, “Blessed Be This Nightmare”: Crushing.

A relentless album not lacking with variety and unapologetic in its absurdly demolishing sound, “Blessed Be This Nightmare” delivers an unforgettable sound that stays constant throughout, yet lacks any sign of redundancy. Each song seems masterfully pieced together- not once was I bored listening to this album. With that being said, rarely is an album released that most people can say they can listen to from end-to-end, and I can confidently say that Eternal Lord have created an album that will be widely spoken of.

Song one, “Hot To Trot”, is great, and then “Get To F*ck” starts the onslaught of metal that culminates and snowballs throughout the rest of the album. No song sounds the same: each is made up of it’s own unique elements. The breakdowns are absolutely ridiculous. “Amity” (track is a pretty sweet instrumental song that busts into O’ Brother, Where Art Thou (track 9) with no hesitation or warning. Amity was probably put in as an intermission to the amazing display of metal in all the tracks leading up to it, then the torrential current of brutality continues onto the last song.

Both Eternal Lord’s instruments and vocals are punishing as well as well-written. This album is far from aesthetically pleasing- it’s a shit storm of complete chaos that just so happens to be a key trait for any great metal album.

There’s no whining, no crying, and no compromises on “Blessed Be This Nightmare”. There’s nothing apologetic about this album, and no reason why people shouldn’t hear it. It’s sure to be one of the most potent metal albums of 2008.

"Sound:
It’s not every day you see a death metal band emerge from a place like Swindon, England, especially not one with a name like ‘Eternal Lord’, however the band are certainly worth taking notice of. They’re starting to gain some more popularity among people who’s lives don’t revolve around MySpace, and there’s good reason for that. A label like ‘deathcore’ is one that plenty of people will avoid like the plague, with frankly pathetic outfits such as Bring Me The Horizon chug-squee’ing their way to success. Eternal Lord, however, is something quite different."

Formed in 2005, these guys come from Swindon, England and this one is their debut full-length released in 2008.

They deliver some deathcore, consisting in death metal influences, metalcore and mathcore influences and rhythmics, thrash riffing influences, blastbeats, up tempo rhythms, breakdowns, groovy parts, slowdowns, melodic parts, acoustic breakdowns, some blackish passages, little use of dissonances, general brutality: great vocals, which consist in both growling and blackish angry high rasps.
